MedWorld Advisors @ MD&M West 2021

After a long hiatus, industry conferences are making a comeback. One of MedTech’s flagship events, the MD&M West Conference, took place last week and MedWorld’s own Daniel Sheppard attended the event in Anaheim, California to connect with familiar faces and hold meetings with industry strategics on behalf of our clients.

Typically held annually in February, MD&M West was moved to August of this year due to circumstances surrounding the Covid pandemic. The conference organizer, Informa Markets, did an outstanding job ensuring the event proceeded in a responsible manner. Digital entry passes, masking guidelines, and several sanitizing stations helped to keep conference attendees safe while maintaining their business activities.

While the industry has been nimble in continuing operations during the challenges of the last year and a half, it is clear that in-person events create an unrivaled opportunity to promote new innovations and generate new business. All of the industries big guns were present at the event with Flex, Viant, Sterigenics, Teleflex, Asahi Intecc, Argon and many more attending in large numbers and exhibiting their services for new customers.

The large strategic presence helped to facilitate several key meetings for MedWorld Advisors clients that provided a great touch point in our M&A processes and will ultimately lead to successful transactions in the future. The strategic meetings were also helpful to understand the inorganic objectives of large acquisitive companies in the industry, of which we expect future MedWorld clients will benefit from these insights.

We are encouraged by the rampant M&A activity occurring in 2021. Through the first 6 months of the year, there were 202 deals completed* in the Medtech industry. At the current pace, the number of deals transacted will surpass 2020’s total by 25%. It truly is a seller’s market that you don’t want to miss.
